Why choose it

The Tarantula is a proven entry point into La Sportiva's climbing shoe range, offering a rare blend of out-of-the-box comfort and long-term performance. The unlined suede upper stretches slightly for a custom fit, while the Pacific heel lining keeps the shoe from bagging out. The FriXion Black rubber is a workhorse compound that resists wear on indoor walls and rough rock alike, and the 5mm thickness provides ample material for resoling. The neutral last and flat profile reduce strain on your feet, making this an excellent choice for climbers who prioritize all-day comfort without sacrificing edging ability.

Ideal use cases

• Indoor bouldering and top-rope sessions where comfort matters
• Outdoor sport climbing on vertical to gently overhanging terrain
• Multi-pitch routes where you need a shoe that won't punish your feet
• Beginner climbers developing footwork and confidence
• Climbers with wider or higher-volume feet seeking a forgiving fit

Good to know

La Sportiva recommends sizing the Tarantula close to your street shoe size for a comfortable, performance-oriented fit. The dual Velcro straps allow quick on/off at the crag or gym. As a leather shoe, it will stretch slightly with use; avoid excessive heat or direct sunlight when drying. The FriXion Black outsole can be resoled by a qualified cobbler to extend the shoe's life. This model is unisex and suits a wide range of foot shapes, though those with very narrow feet may prefer a lower-volume option.
