An APC Smart-UPS Ultra On-Line Li-Ion always supplies perfectly clean power to all connected equipment thanks to its double conversion technology. Even power outages have no influence on this. The APC Smart-UPS On-Line then automatically supplies emergency power without having to switch. This way you prevent unwanted failure of, for example, a server, storage or switch. With the integrated network card and associated APC PowerChute Network Shutdown software, the UPS can send a shutdown signal via the network to multiple physical and/or virtual servers and have them shut down automatically and in a controlled manner when the UPS battery is almost empty. This way you prevent data loss, downtime and physical damage to hardware.

Lithium-Ion
The APC SRTL5KRM2UI uses Li-Ion batteries, which provides unique advantages:

-Longer life span. Li-Ion batteries can last up to 10 years, making the UPS truly maintenance-free.
-Smaller and lighter. Li-Ion batteries are smaller and weigh approximately 30% less than lead acid batteries, saving space, 2U form factor and simplifying installation.
-Better performance at high temperature. Li-Ion batteries perform well at high ambient temperatures (up to 40°C), in contrast to lead acid batteries where this is at the expense of battery life.
-5 year manufacturer's warranty. Standard long warranty on the UPS including the battery.
-Lower costs: The above benefits reduce the total costs over the entire lifespan of the UPS by up to 53% (compared to a UPS with lead-acid batteries.)

Battery life
You can easily read the expected battery life in the runtime graph, which you can find between the product images. You can easily see how long the UPS supplies emergency power at a certain load.

Extend the runtime
You can easily increase the number of minutes that the APC SRTL5KRM2UI can independently supply emergency power by connecting up to 9 additional external battery packs (SRTL180RM2UBP). A runtime of several hours is even possible.

Manage your Smart-UPS
Thanks to the integrated network card, you can easily connect the APC UPS to your network. This way you can monitor and manage the UPS remotely (SNMP) and the UPS can send a shutdown signal to multiple physical and/or virtual servers using PowerChute Network Shutdown software.

PowerChute Network Shutdown
PowerChute Network Shutdown is UPS management software that works with the UPS Network Management Card to protect Windows, Linux and Host ESXi, as well as hyperconverged and virtual infrastructure*. In the event of a power outage, PowerChute can properly shut down your virtual machines and the preconfigured boot sequence ensures they are turned back on.

Availability
The Smart-UPS On-Line has an internal bypass and uses double conversion, which increases the availability and lifespan of connected hardware.

Safety
In addition, a Smart-UPS On-Line protects connected devices against peak voltage caused by lightning, among other things. This APC emergency power supply is therefore ideally suited for business use.

How to use

Install the UPS in a standard 19-inch rack occupying 2U of space. Connect the UPS to a dedicated AC input source according to site electrical codes and the equipment manual. Plug critical loads into the provided AC outlets, distributing power according to load capacity limits so total connected load does not exceed 5000 W. Monitor the UPS status via its front panel indicators and any supported management interface to observe battery state and alarm conditions. For controlled shutdowns, initiate orderly shutdown procedures for connected systems before battery depletion.

Recommendations

Place the UPS in a temperature-controlled environment within the vendor-specified operating range, ensure adequate ventilation around the rack, and perform periodic checks of battery status and firmware updates as recommended by the manufacturer. Verify load distribution and allow for a margin below maximum rated output to increase available runtime and reduce thermal stress.
