ASUS ProArt PA40SU Caja SSD USB4 40Gbps para M.2 NVMe (2230/2280, M-Key), USB-C, refrigeración activa, Negro

The ASUS ProArt PA40SU is a USB4 external enclosure that turns an internal M.2 NVMe SSD into a fast, portable drive for creators and professionals. Built around a USB4 interface with a USB-C connector, it delivers transfer speeds of up to 40 Gbit/s, letting you move large photo, video and project libraries in seconds. A built-in four-level smart cooling fan and thermal pads keep the drive cool during sustained workloads, while the slim aluminium-alloy chassis stays portable and durable.

Advantages

The PA40SU houses a single M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (M Key) in either 2230 or 2280 form factor and supports capacities of up to 4 TB. Its tool-free, push-to-open design lets you install or swap a drive without any screws. Power is supplied entirely over USB at 5 V DC, so no separate power adapter is required, and the included USB-C to USB-C cable provides immediate plug-and-play operation. The exclusive ProArt SSD Dashboard software adds real-time monitoring of drive health and performance. At just 124.8 x 46.5 x 13.5 mm and 127 g, the Stealth Black enclosure slips easily into a bag or pocket.

Suitable for

• Creators editing high-resolution photo and 4K/8K video on the move
• Fast transfer of large media libraries and project files
• Expanding portable storage for laptops and desktops
• Reusing a spare M.2 NVMe SSD as an external drive
• System and project backups

How to use

Open the enclosure using the tool-free push-to-open mechanism, fit a compatible M.2 NVMe SSD (2230 or 2280) into the slot, apply the supplied thermal pad and close the cover. Connect the enclosure to a USB4-capable USB-C port using the included cable; the drive is detected automatically with no driver installation required. Format the drive before first use if needed, and install the ProArt SSD Dashboard to monitor drive health.

Recommendations

For full 40 Gbit/s performance, connect the PA40SU to a host port that genuinely supports USB4 at 40 Gbps, because some Thunderbolt 4 or USB-C ports may negotiate lower speeds depending on available PCIe bandwidth. Keep the enclosure on a flat, well-ventilated surface during heavy transfers so the cooling fan can work effectively, and back up important data regularly, as portable storage is not a substitute for redundant backups.
