The Sonnet xMac Studio 3U rackmount chassis secures a Mac Studio in a standard 19-inch rack and offers an optional expansion bay for PCIe card modules. Built from rugged steel, the enclosure keeps the Mac Studio accessible behind a removable front panel while allowing installation of a Sonnet Echo III or Echo I PCIe Card Expansion Module. The design provides unobstructed wireless signal access through a top opening and supports the Mac Studio’s thermal layout by enabling cool air intake through the base and unrestricted warm air exhaust at the rear.

How to use

Install the Mac Studio into the chassis and secure it using the supplied mounting hardware. If using a Sonnet Echo PCIe expansion module, slide the module into the expansion bay and fasten the rear thumbscrews; the module can be accessed from the front once the front panel is removed. Connect front USB devices to the 4‑port hub and route cables through the rear as needed. For adding SSDs beneath the Mac Studio, remove the rear access panel, attach the supplied adhesive magnet to the drive bottom, insert the drive into the compartment, connect it to the Mac Studio, and reinstall the panel.

Recommendations

Place the chassis in a standard 19-inch rack with sufficient rear clearance to allow unobstructed exhaust. Ensure SSDs or other devices stored beneath the Mac Studio are thin, bus‑powered, and do not exceed the stated dimensions. Verify wireless performance in your rack configuration, as rack type and position can affect Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth signals.
