CBO AOC SFP28 BlueOptics BO272703Q50M 50 m cable óptico activo 100G

The CBO AOC SFP28 BlueOptics BO272703Q50M is an active optical cable designed for 100G links over a 50-metre distance. Intended for SFP28 ports, this plug-and-play AOC provides a fiber-based direct connection between switches, servers and storage systems. The cable reduces electromagnetic interference and cabling bulk compared with copper alternatives while supporting low-latency, high-bandwidth interconnects for short-reach data centre and enterprise applications.

Advantages

This active optical cable supports 100G data rates with stable signal integrity across a 50 m reach, enabling reliable short-distance high-speed connections. The SFP28 plug-and-play form factor simplifies installation and replacement without the need for separate transceivers and patch fibres. Being optical, the cable is immune to electromagnetic interference and allows for slimmer, lighter cabling runs that improve airflow and rack management in dense environments.

Suitable for

• 100G short-reach links between network switches
• High-speed server-to-switch connections in data centres
• Interconnects between storage arrays and network equipment
• Environments requiring low electromagnetic interference and reduced cable bulk

Key specifications

• Connector type: SFP28 compatible active optical cable ends
• Data rate: 100 Gbit/s
• Maximum reach: 50 metres
• Transmission medium: multimode optical fibre inside AOC assembly
• Latency: low latency design suitable for short-reach interconnects
• Installation: hot-pluggable, plug-and-play

How to use

Insert each SFP28 end into the corresponding SFP28 port on the devices to be connected, ensuring the connectors click into place. No additional transceivers or optical patch cables are required; the AOC combines transceiver functionality with the fibre link inside a single assembly. After insertion, verify link status through device LEDs or management interfaces and confirm negotiated speed settings. For removal, release the latch on the connector and pull straight out to avoid damaging the port.

Recommendations

Route the cable to avoid sharp bends and excessive stress; maintain the manufacturer’s minimum bend radius. Use cable management to secure the assembly and preserve airflow in racks. For best interoperability, ensure network devices support SFP28 AOC modules and 100G link negotiation. Store and handle the connectors with protective caps when not in use to prevent contamination of optical interfaces.
