The disinfectable, wireless Medical Keyboard AK-C8112 in full layout is highly versatile in hygiene-critical areas and lives up to the high demands of frequent users in hospitals and medical practices. The silicone cover and the especially flat key profile allow for the highest level of cleaning and disinfection. Being waterproof, the AK-C8112 can be sprayed, wiped or even immersed in disinfectants and the ultra-flat key profile prevents microbial growth on contaminants and disinfectant residues in gaps. Depending on the hygienic requirements, it is available with a removable membrane that can be autoclaved for sterilization or a permanently installed silicone membrane with IP68 rating. To make wipe disinfection even more efficient, the CleanFunction disables the key input, so you do not need to disconnect the keyboard. In addition to its cleaning capabilities, the AK-C8112 has compelling technical features. The easy key orientation, light keystroke, abrasion-resistant labeling and 2.4 GHz wireless connection make it a reliable, safe and durable tool in every medical setting. With the standard layout of 104 or 105 keys, the AK-C8112 combines all the advantages of a hygiene keyboard with the incomparable smooth and quiet typing experience of a premium office keyboard.

Disinfectable medical keyboard with full layout and flat key profile
Like all Active Key hygiene keyboards of the “-12”-range (suffix -12, e.g. AK-C7412, AK-C4012), the AK-C8112 hygiene keyboard has a particularly flat key profile. This has been proven to remove more bacteria and germs during cleaning. Together with the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden, we carried out a phosphor gel emulation test with the AK-C8100 and AK-C7412 hygiene keyboards. This has clearly shown that the keyboard with the flat key profile (AK-C7412) leaves significantly less to no cleaning residue in the spaces between the keys after wipe disinfection than the keyboard with the higher profile (AK-C8100).

Optimized ergonomics
Where there is a lot of typing, the best ergonomics are essential to maintain the well-being of healthcare professionals. The special design of the AK-C8112 hygienic keyboard reduces excessive strain on the wrists. For fatigue-free and comfortable working, even over long periods of time.

Time for the important things
Thanks to its particularly flat key profile, the AK-C8112 hygienic keyboard is not only thoroughly cleaned in no time at all, but also offers the same typing comfort as an office keyboard with its full layout and light keystroke. Data entry and cleaning are therefore particularly time-saving, leaving more time for what is important in everyday hospital and practice life - your patients.

Durable and robust
In the medical field, keyboards and mice are so-called "high-touch work equipment" and, therefore, must be sanitized frequently in order to minimize the spread of infections. The AK-C8112 Medical Keyboard can be cleaned with all common cleaning agents approved for medical disinfection and is characterized by particularly abrasion-resistant keyboard lettering.

How to use

Connect the AK-C8112 to the host device via its 2.4 GHz wireless receiver. For routine wipe disinfection, activate the CleanFunction to disable key input, then apply approved medical disinfectants by spraying or wiping; the keyboard can also be immersed if required. If your unit has the removable membrane, remove it for autoclaving according to your facility’s sterilization procedures. After cleaning or sterilization, ensure the keyboard is dry and the membrane correctly reinstalled before resuming use.

Recommendations

Use only disinfectants approved for medical devices and follow the manufacturer’s and local infection-control guidelines. Choose the removable autoclaveable membrane if your workflow requires regular steam sterilization; select the IP68 permanent membrane for continuous waterproof protection without removal.
