Dashcam VIOFO A229 PLUS 1CH-G GPS — 1 canal, 2560×1440, GPS, Wi-Fi, pantalla de 2,4 pulgadas, MicroSD hasta 512GB

The VIOFO A229 PLUS 1CH-G GPS is a single-channel dash camera that records video at up to 2560 × 1440 resolution with H.264 compression. It includes built-in GPS for location and speed logging, Wi‑Fi for wireless connection, a 2.4" (6.09 cm) built-in display for framing and playback, audio recording and a photo mode. The unit is powered via USB and accepts MicroSD (TransFlash) cards up to 512 GB for storage.

Advantages

The VIOFO A229 PLUS provides high-resolution 2560×1440 recording in a compact single-channel form factor, combined with GPS logging and Wi‑Fi connectivity for easy file transfer and location data. The integrated 2.4" display and audio/photo modes add convenience for quick checks and evidence capture. Support for large MicroSD cards up to 512 GB allows extended continuous recording.

Suitable for

• Everyday in-car recording and documenting trips
• Recording incidents and accidents for insurance or legal use
• Fleet vehicles and drivers who need GPS-tracked video
• Users who need local Wi‑Fi access for quick downloads and settings

When it may not be suitable

The A229 PLUS is a single-channel dash camera, so it records only the front view; it may not be suitable if rear or interior multi-channel coverage is required. Also, it uses H.264 compression—while efficient, some users preferring newer codecs (e.g., H.265) for smaller file sizes may find this limiting.

Key specifications

How to use

Mount the dash camera on the windshield to capture the front view, connect it to a USB power source in the vehicle, and insert a compatible MicroSD card (up to 512 GB). Use the built-in 2.4" display to adjust the viewing angle and access basic settings. Enable Wi‑Fi to connect the camera to a smartphone app for file transfer and configuration, and rely on the GPS feature to embed location and speed data into recordings. Use photo mode or audio recording as needed.

What to consider before purchase

• Need for single-channel (front only) recording versus multi-channel coverage
• Preferred video codec—H.264 is used rather than newer codecs
• Required maximum MicroSD capacity (supports up to 512 GB)
• Whether integrated GPS and Wi‑Fi meet your tracking and connectivity needs

Recommendations

For reliable continuous recording, use a high-endurance MicroSD card recommended for dash cams, secure the unit firmly to minimise vibration, periodically check GPS logging and Wi‑Fi connectivity, and back up important footage promptly after incidents.
