Escáner de códigos de barras Datalogic Magellan 9550i — escáner de presentación para comercio minorista y TPV

The Datalogic Magellan 9550i — presentation scanner for retail and POS is a countertop barcode scanner engineered for continuous, hands-free operation in busy retail and point-of-sale environments. It captures both 1D and 2D barcodes from paper labels and mobile device screens, providing fast, accurate reads at checkouts, kiosks and customer service counters. The design supports seamless integration into existing POS setups and is intended to reduce transaction times and scanning errors while handling a high volume of items.

Advantages

The Magellan 9550i offers rapid omnidirectional scanning that minimizes the need for precise barcode alignment, improving throughput during peak hours. Its ability to read from mobile screens and printed labels enables flexible customer interactions such as digital coupons and mobile payment verification. Built for retail durability, the unit supports continuous use and is compatible with common mounting and placement options to suit different checkout configurations.

Suitable for

• Supermarket and grocery checkouts with high item throughput
• Retail stores and department store counters handling mixed product types
• Self-checkout kiosks and staffed POS lanes requiring hands-free scanning
• Customer service desks verifying mobile coupons, gift cards or tickets

When it may not be suitable

This presentation scanner is designed primarily for fixed countertop or mounted POS scenarios and is not intended as a handheld primary scanner for inventory picking where mobility and extended reach are required. Environments requiring specialized industrial protection (for example, heavy dust, high moisture, or hazardous locations) may need scanners with dedicated ingress protection ratings or ruggedized housings.

Key specifications

• Scan capability: Reads both 1D and 2D barcodes from paper labels and mobile screens
• Operation mode: Hands-free presentation scanning for continuous use
• Mounting options: Countertop placement; supports platter, flip-up produce rail and shelf mount configurations
• Connectivity: Standard serial/USB/RS-232 interface compatibility for POS integration
• Power: External power brick suitable for retail installations (region-specific cord supplied)

How to use

Place the scanner on the checkout counter or attach it to the appropriate mount for your configuration. Position items above the scanning window and present barcodes toward the reader; the omnidirectional imaging field captures codes without precise aiming. For mobile phone barcodes, ensure the device screen brightness is sufficient and present the barcode steadily. Connect the scanner to the POS terminal using the supported communication interface and verify correct configuration in your POS software before live operation.

What to consider before purchase

• Confirm compatibility with your POS system and the available communication ports
• Decide whether the included mounting options match your checkout layout
• Check local power plug type and region-specific power brick requirements

Recommendations

For consistent performance, keep the scan window clean and avoid strong direct lighting that may cause glare on mobile screens. Use a stable mount to prevent movement during scanning and periodically verify POS interface settings after software updates to maintain seamless integration.
