ICY BOX IB-RD2818DK-40G Heart RAID 2818 Estación de acoplamiento RAID Dual M.2 NVMe Thunderbolt 4 40Gbps

The ICY BOX IB-RD2818DK-40G Heart RAID 2818 is a high-performance dual M.2 NVMe SSD RAID docking station for professionals who need blazing-fast external storage with data redundancy. Connecting via Thunderbolt 4 at 40 Gbit/s, it accepts two M.2 NVMe SSDs (PCIe 4.0 x4) in 2242, 2260, or 2280 form factors and provides four selectable storage modes: RAID 0 (maximum speed), RAID 1 (mirroring/redundancy), JBOD, and Single. Powered by the ASMedia ASM2464PD controller, the compact aluminium chassis delivers passive cooling without any fan noise, making it ideal for creative workspaces, video editing bays, and quiet office environments.

Advantages

At 40 Gbit/s, the Thunderbolt 4 interface provides more than twice the bandwidth of USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20 Gbps), enabling real-time 8K video editing and ultra-fast backup workflows. The Thunderbolt 4 port is backward compatible with Thunderbolt 3, USB4 (40 Gbps), and USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, Gen 2, and Gen 1, so it works with a wide range of host systems. Maximum combined capacity is up to 16 TB (2x 8 TB NVMe SSDs). The included 0.5 m Thunderbolt 4 cable and external 12V/3A power adapter mean you can start working right out of the box — no drivers required on Windows or macOS.

Suitable for

• Video editors and photographers who need fast external storage exceeding USB 3.2 speeds for 4K/8K workflows
• Professionals requiring RAID 1 mirroring for automatic real-time backup of critical project files
• IT staff and content creators needing to flexibly reconfigure RAID modes between RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOD, and Single without additional software

How to use

Insert up to two M.2 NVMe SSDs into the drive bays and secure them with the provided screws. Connect the power adapter, then attach the Thunderbolt 4 cable between the IB-RD2818DK-40G and your Thunderbolt 4 host. Use the RAID mode selector on the device to choose your desired configuration (RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOD, or Single). The docking station is automatically recognised by Windows and macOS without driver installation. Note: changing RAID mode erases all existing data on the drives.

Recommendations

For creative professionals with Thunderbolt 4 systems, the ICY BOX IB-RD2818DK-40G is the definitive choice for high-speed dual-drive external storage: RAID 1 delivers automatic mirroring at speeds well above conventional USB enclosures, while RAID 0 saturates the full 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 4 link for the fastest possible file access.
