Memoria flash USB Apricorn 240 GB USB Type-A Aegis Secure Key 3.0

The Apricorn Aegis Secure Key 3.0 is a 240 GB USB Type-A flash drive that combines hardware AES 256-bit XTS encryption with an onboard alphanumeric keypad for PIN-based access. It provides software-free, cross-platform operation (Windows, macOS, Linux and embedded systems), USB 3.2 Gen 1 performance and a rugged, tamper-evident aluminum housing with dust and water resistance (IP58 pending). The device is designed and assembled in the U.S.A. and includes FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validation (pending) and multiple protections against physical and electronic attacks.

Advantages

On-the-fly military-grade AES 256-bit XTS hardware encryption secures all stored data while the onboard rechargeable keypad prevents host-based keylogging by allowing PIN entry before connection. The drive supports independent User and Admin PINs, a drive reset that destroys data and generates a new encryption key, and a brute-force defense that erases the encryption key after configurable incorrect PIN attempts. Its sealed epoxy protection, tamper-evident aluminum casing and IP58-rated resistance (pending) increase physical durability and attack resilience. No software or admin rights are required for setup or daily use, and the USB controller is locked to mitigate BadUSB-style exploits.

Suitable for

• Transporting and storing sensitive corporate or government data
• Fieldwork and travel where physical durability and water/dust resistance are needed
• Environments without ability to install software or grant admin rights
• Use cases requiring FIPS 140-2 Level 3 (pending) validated cryptographic protection

How to use

Charge the internal battery if required, enter your 7–16 digit alphanumeric PIN on the onboard keypad to unlock the drive, then connect the flash drive to a computer or device via the USB Type-A connector; the drive is immediately usable without installing software. To manage access, set separate User and Admin PINs: the Admin PIN can recover or clear a forgotten User PIN. To wipe and reuse the device, perform a drive reset which destroys the data and creates a new randomly generated encryption key.

Recommendations

Store separate secure backups of critical data and ensure PINs are memorized or stored in a secure password manager. Use the Admin PIN procedure to manage user access and the drive reset only when you intend to permanently destroy stored data. Ensure the device is fully charged before extended offline use of the keypad, and follow organizational policies for handling FIPS-validated media.
