Módulo de switch de red Cisco C9500-NM-2Q 40 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP+

The Cisco C9500-NM-2Q is a network switch module for Catalyst 9500 series switches that provides 40 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity through QSFP+ ports. Designed for enterprise core and aggregation deployments, the module delivers high throughput and low-latency links suitable for data-intensive campus and data-center environments. It is compatible with the Catalyst 9500 platform, which is built on an x86 CPU and provides advanced routing, security, and virtualization capabilities.

Advantages

The module enables 40G QSFP+ connectivity on Catalyst 9500 switches, offering high port density and support for fiber-based links. It integrates with the Catalyst 9500 platform to take advantage of industry-leading table scale (MAC/route/ACL), buffering, and advanced infrastructure services such as MPLS, MVPN, NAT and SD-Access features. The design is aligned with high-availability features available on the platform, including redundant power and system resilience mechanisms.

Suitable for

• Core and aggregation layer connectivity in enterprise campus networks
• High-bandwidth uplinks between switches and data-center fabrics
• Environments requiring QSFP+ 40 Gigabit fiber links for server or storage connectivity
• Deployments leveraging Catalyst 9500 platform features (routing, MPLS, VRF, SD-Access)

How to use

Install the C9500-NM-2Q module into a compatible slot on a Catalyst 9500 series switch following Cisco installation procedures. Populate QSFP+ fiber transceivers or direct-attach cables into the module ports and connect to remote switches, servers, or fabric endpoints. Configure the switch interfaces through the Catalyst operating system to set speed, VLANs, link aggregation or routing policies according to network design requirements.

Recommendations

Use OEM-approved QSFP+ transceivers and high-quality fiber or DAC cabling. Verify Catalyst 9500 software image and licensing for required features (40G port support, MPLS/VRF, SD-Access) and ensure proper thermal and power provisioning in the chassis to maintain high-availability operation.
