OWC 4 TB M.2 PCI Express 3.0 carcasa SSD ThunderBlade

The OWC ThunderBlade is a compact, rugged external SSD enclosure designed for professional media workflows. It supports up to four M.2 PCIe 3.0 SSDs in configurable RAID levels (0, 1, 4, 5, 10) and provides a Thunderbolt 3 interface with up to 40 Gbit/s bandwidth. With a total capacity of 4 TB and a durable black housing, ThunderBlade is built for high-bandwidth, uncompressed content and mobile production environments.

Advantages

ThunderBlade delivers extremely high sequential transfer rates—up to 2800 MB/s read and 2450 MB/s write for a single unit—and can reach higher combined speeds when using SoftRAID with two enclosures. The unit is engineered for reliability and ruggedness, comes with a ballistic hard-shell case for transport, and offers dual Thunderbolt 3 ports for daisy-chaining. It is backed by OWC's quality testing, a 3-year limited warranty, and U.S.-based technical support.

Suitable for

• Video editing with uncompressed or high-bitrate footage
• On-set capture and ingest workflows
• High-speed data transfer and backup tasks
• Mobile production and field work requiring a rugged drive

How to use

Install M.2 PCIe 3.0 SSD modules into the ThunderBlade enclosure following the manufacturer's installation instructions, then connect the enclosure to your computer using a Thunderbolt 3 cable. Configure the desired RAID level using SoftRAID or the provided management utility to balance speed and redundancy according to your workflow. Use the dual Thunderbolt 3 ports to daisy-chain additional devices if needed. Ensure the enclosure is placed on a stable surface during operation and that cables are secured to prevent accidental disconnection.

Recommendations

For best performance with high-resolution video or multi-stream playback, use drives matched for capacity and performance and select RAID 0 or SoftRAID configurations that prioritize throughput; for data protection during capture and storage, choose RAID levels offering redundancy such as RAID 1, 5, or 10. Keep firmware and SoftRAID software up to date and use the supplied hard-shell case for transport.
