Snapshots are an advanced backup method and are normally reserved for high-end business NAS. QNAP provides snapshots as standard for all NAS – including the HS-264. How to use

Install your 3.5" or 2.5" SATA drives in the two available bays, connect the HS-264 to your router or switch via the 2.5GbE ports and attach a TV or monitor using HDMI for direct playback and management. Use QTS apps such as QuMagie, Video Station and Music Station or install Plex Media Server to organize and stream media. Configure port trunking on your switch and NAS to enable aggregated network throughput if desired. Enable myQNAPcloud for secure remote access and set up snapshots to protect critical data.

Recommendations

For best performance when streaming 4K content and transferring large files, use port trunking with compatible network equipment, install fast SATA drives, and enable snapshots to protect against accidental data loss or ransomware. Use the QNAP RM-IR004 remote control (configurable via QButton) for convenient media playback and NAS management.
