Montura Skywatcher Hybrid AZ-EQ5 con trípode y sierra — Skywatcher SW-4157

The Skywatcher Hybrid AZ-EQ5 mount with tripod and saw (model SW-4157) is a dual-mode mounting system designed for both alt-azimuth and equatorial operation. Supplied complete with a robust tripod and the included saw accessory, this mount supports a range of medium-sized telescopes and offers the functionality required for visual observing and guided astrophotography. The hybrid design allows rapid switching between simple alt-azimuth pointing for casual observation and precise equatorial tracking for long-exposure imaging.

Advantages

The mount combines stability and precision: a sturdy tripod provides a firm base while the equatorial mode enables accurate right ascension tracking to compensate for Earth's rotation. The alt-azimuth mode offers intuitive manual pointing for quick setup and daytime or casual night-sky viewing. The included saw accessory and mounting hardware simplify installation and adjustment. Compatibility with common telescope mounts and guiding accessories makes the system adaptable to different observing setups and imaging workflows.

How to use

Assemble the tripod on a level surface and securely attach the mount head according to the supplied hardware. For casual observing, use the alt-azimuth mode: mount the telescope, balance it, and use the azimuth and altitude controls for manual pointing. For astrophotography, switch to equatorial mode, align the polar axis using a polar scope or drift alignment method, balance the telescope on both axes, and connect guiding and imaging equipment as required. Use the mount adjustment controls to fine-tune tracking and guide with an autoguider when performing long exposures.

Recommendations

Ensure the tripod is placed on firm ground and regularly check that all clamps and screws are tightened before observing. Balance the telescope carefully in both modes to reduce strain on the drive and improve tracking accuracy. When using equatorial mode for long-exposure photography, perform a thorough polar alignment and consider guiding to achieve optimal image sharpness. Store the mount and tripod dry and protected from dust when not in use.
