Unidad SSD Western Digital 15,4 TB U.3 PCI Express 4.0 NVMe Ultrastar WUS5EA1A1ESP5E3

The Western Digital Ultrastar WUS5EA1A1ESP5E3 is a high-capacity NVMe SSD in a 2.5" U.3 form factor designed for cloud, scale-out and disaggregated storage environments. With PCIe Gen 4.0 support, a Western Digital next-generation controller and BiCS5 TLC 3D NAND, this 15.36 TB drive is engineered to handle large unstructured datasets and deliver consistent performance for demanding workloads such as big data, AI and machine learning. The drive supports standard U.2/U.3 backplanes and includes enterprise features like power-loss protection and secure erase, plus a five-year limited warranty.

Advantages

The Ultrastar DC SN650 combines PCIe Gen 4.0 throughput with high bit-density BiCS5 TLC 3D NAND to offer up to 15.36 TB of capacity and improved GB/watt efficiency. It provides high sustained read and write performance at scale (up to 6500 MB/s read, 1900 MB/s write as specified), consistent QoS for multi-host environments, and enterprise reliability features including power-loss protection, secure erase capability and a projected 2 million hour MTBF.

Suitable for

• Cloud service provider storage pools and disaggregated storage architectures
• Scale-out data centers processing large unstructured datasets
• Big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning workloads
• Server and workstation applications requiring high capacity NVMe storage

How to use

Install the SSD into a compatible 2.5" U.3 or U.2 server bay or backplane with PCIe Gen 4.0 support. Ensure the host system firmware and NVMe drivers are up to date for optimal performance. Provision the drive in the desired storage architecture — direct-attached, disaggregated storage pool, or in tiered/distributed configurations — and format or initialize the drive according to your operating system or storage controller requirements. Use secure erase procedures when decommissioning the drive to remove stored data.

Recommendations

Use this high-capacity NVMe SSD in scale-out and cloud environments where large datasets are read and written frequently. For best results, pair the drive with PCIe Gen 4.0-capable hosts, implement appropriate monitoring for endurance and health, and include the drive in storage tiers or disaggregated pools to maximize utilization and QoS consistency.
