Cable SAS Supermicro CBL-0421L 0,54 m SFF-8087 a SFF-8087

Supermicro CBL-0421L is a Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) internal cable with SFF-8087 connectors on both ends and a length of 0.54 m (approximately 1.8 ft). Engineered for use inside rack servers, storage arrays and server chassis, this short multi-lane SAS link enables direct connections between SAS backplanes, RAID controllers and host adapters. The cable supports multi-lane SAS lanes through 36-pin SFF-8087 mini multi-lane connectors and is intended for compact internal deployments where a reliable, space-efficient SAS connection is required.

Advantages

The cable provides a compact, standardized SFF-8087 interface for multi-lane SAS connections, reducing signal loss with short internal routing and maintaining compatibility with server and storage components that accept 36-pin mini multi-lane connectors. Its short length simplifies cable management inside dense chassis and minimizes excess cabling that can obstruct airflow. Designed to meet typical server interconnect requirements, the cable helps preserve data-path integrity between controllers and backplanes.

Suitable for

• Connecting SAS RAID controllers to internal SAS backplanes in rack servers
• Linking host adapters to storage drive enclosures and JBOD modules
• Short internal interconnects in blade or rack-mount server chassis
• Upgrading or replacing worn internal SAS connections in storage arrays

Key specifications

• Connector type: SFF-8087 (36-pin mini multi-lane) on both ends
• Length: 0.54 m (approximately 1.8 ft)
• Cable use: Internal SAS multi-lane data transmission
• Compatibility: Designed for server and storage hardware that accepts SFF-8087 internal SAS interfaces
• Application environment: Rack servers, storage arrays, drive enclosures and JBOD systems

How to use

Power off the server or storage system and follow electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions before installation. Route the Supermicro CBL-0421L inside the chassis to avoid obstructing fans or airflow paths. Align each SFF-8087 connector with the corresponding 36-pin internal SAS port on the controller or backplane and press gently until the connector seats. Verify secure seating and ensure the cable is not twisted or kinked. After installation, power on the system and confirm device detection in the controller or storage management interface.

Recommendations

Use this short SFF-8087 cable for internal connections where minimal cable length is required to maintain signal integrity and tidy cable routing. Avoid sharp bends and excessive tension; maintain ESD precautions during handling. For systems that require external connections or different connector types, select an appropriate cable or adapter that matches the system's interface.
