Scarpa Instinct VSR pies de gato

Built for steep sport routes, boulder problems, and indoor walls, the Scarpa Instinct VSR stands apart through its Bi-Tension active rand system—a reverse slingshot that concentrates power under the big toe while keeping the heel locked and secure. This is not a shoe that merely fits; it actively drives force into the rock, letting you pull on micro-edges and toe hooks with confidence. The moderately downturned, asymmetric FQ last balances high-end performance with enough comfort for long sessions, while the Vibram XS Grip 2 sole delivers that sticky, almost magnetic feel on volumes and smears.

Highlights

• Bi-Tension active rand system for precision toe power and heel tension
• Vibram XS Grip 2 rubber (3.5 mm) for exceptional grip and durability
• Flexan 1.0 mm midsole provides support without sacrificing sensitivity
• Microsuede upper with unlined forefoot and partially lined heel for breathability and fit
• Single hook-and-loop strap for quick, secure closure
• Rubberized toe box and molded, tensioned heel cup for toe and heel hooking
• Slip-lasted construction with synthetic materials for consistent fit and performance

In daily use

On steep terrain, the Instinct VSR shines. The Bi-Tension rand pulls your foot into a powerful position, reducing fatigue on long boulder problems. The medium-to-wide volume fit accommodates a variety of foot shapes without dead space, and the unlined forefoot allows the shoe to mold to your foot over time. The single Velcro strap makes on-and-off effortless between burns, while the rubberized toe box gives you the confidence to commit to toe hooks on roofs and aretes. Smearing is excellent thanks to the XS Grip 2 compound, and edging remains precise on thin flakes and micro-crimps.
