Switch de red EDIMAX IGS-5428PLC 28 puertos Gigabit PoE+ con 4 puertos combo RJ45/SFP

The EDIMAX IGS-5428PLC 28-Port Gigabit PoE+ with 4 combo RJ45/SFP ports is a rack-mountable network switch that combines 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports with Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) capability and four RJ45/SFP combo uplink ports for flexible fiber or copper connections. Designed to deliver both data and power over standard Ethernet cabling, the switch supports centralized power delivery to compatible IP cameras, wireless access points and VoIP phones while providing up to gigabit speeds on each access port. Its combo RJ45/SFP design allows administrators to choose fiber uplinks for longer distances or maintain copper connections where appropriate, fitting small to medium enterprise network topologies that require reliable wired connectivity and consolidated PoE management.

Advantages

The switch provides combined data and power delivery on multiple ports via PoE+ to simplify deployment of powered devices without separate power supplies. Gigabit port speeds on all access interfaces ensure high-throughput connections for surveillance, wireless backhaul and voice traffic. The inclusion of four RJ45/SFP combo ports enables flexible uplink options, allowing integration with fiber segments or existing copper infrastructure. The unit’s form factor and port density support centralized wiring closets and small data cabinets commonly found in branch offices and small to medium enterprise environments.

Suitable for

• IP video surveillance systems with multiple PoE cameras
• Wireless LAN deployments requiring PoE access points and gigabit backhaul
• Voice over IP (VoIP) installations with powered IP phones
• Small to medium enterprise edge switching and aggregation

Key specifications

• 28 Gigabit Ethernet ports with PoE+ support on access ports
• 4 RJ45/SFP combo uplink ports for fiber or copper connectivity
• Rack-mountable form factor suitable for wiring closets and racks
• Centrally delivered power over Ethernet to compatible devices
• Designed for small to medium enterprise network edge deployments

How to use

Install the switch into a standard 19-inch rack or place it on a stable surface in a network cabinet. Connect powered devices such as IP cameras, wireless access points or VoIP phones to the Gigabit PoE+ ports using Cat5e/Cat6 cables to provide both data and power. Use the RJ45/SFP combo ports to connect to core switches or fiber distribution panels depending on distance and media type; insert SFP modules into the SFP slots when fiber links are required. Ensure the switch is connected to a proper AC power source and that total PoE power budget is considered when populating ports with high-power devices.

Recommendations

Plan port usage to stay within the device’s total PoE budget: distribute high-power devices across multiple ports and consider using fiber uplinks for longer backbone distances to reduce copper cable runs. Verify compatibility of connected devices with PoE+ standards and use appropriate SFP transceivers for desired fiber type and distance.
